Preferences
The most critical area of getting Guayadeque setup and running to what your music needs are
General Section
General Section has 3 areas
On Start
Show Splash Screen
Start Minimized
Restore Position for tracks longer than x Minutes
Load Default Layout is good if there is ever an issue with any section missing.
Behavior
Activate Task Bar Icon - Great for a mini player from the task bar.
Enqueue as default action - If not check, double click will start a song.
Drop files clear playlist
On Close
Save Playlist on close
Close to taskbar Icon - Instead of closing, player will move to taskbar
Ask confirmation on exit
Library Section
Paths - Here you can add as many directories as you want to scan for music. Any network path or USB device must be connected in order for Guayadeque to include it. Once added and the files are added with a rescan of the library, they will be a part of your Library but if you remove the device you must rescan again to remove the files from your Library.

Crossfader
The Crossfader manages the amount of overlap (if any) you want between tracks. It also controls how you want this overlap: maybe you prefer the next song to announce itself softly by a long, gradual fade in; maybe you prefer the next song to start with a bang!! The Crossfader is a very flexible tool.
Crossfader Controls:
- Out length: selects the length of the fade out, that is, how many seconds before the end of the track the current song starts to decrease its volume. A value of 0 would produce gapless playback when the Silence Detector is enabled on the Playback section
- In length: selects the length of the fade in, that is, for how long the next song increases its volume.
- In Vol. Start: selects at what volume the next song starts playing
- In start: selects at what volume of the fade in the fade out starts. It is the parameter that regulates the actual amount of overlap between songs
The visual aid:
The graphics gives you an idea of what is going on when you move the sliders. Blue for the previous song, green for the next song and the graphical overlap being the actual overlap between tracks. The steeper and shorter the diagonals are, the more abrupt the crossfading will be.

Filters -
Language - Change to a supported Language
Browser - You can choose another browser as a default
- If your default browser is Chromium instead of Firefox change this:
firefox --new-tab
To this:
chromium-browser --new-tab
Or with Google Chrome:
google-chrome --new-tab
Radio Minimum Allowed Bitrate - Great for keeping out the lower end Shoutcast stations
Player online buffer size - Helps in online stations setting a buffer threshold

Jamendo
Jamendo setup and Genre selections
To set up Jamendo in Guayadeque open the Preference window and choose Jamendo. Here you can choose what genres you want to have access to. You can also choose whether you prefer to download ogg or mp3 files. By default Guayadeque uses Transmission as its torrent client. If you prefer to use Deluge just change this in the Torrent command box (dont use capital letters). Once you've done this Guayadeque will download the information and your Jamendo tab will get populated with all the available music.
Magnatune
Magnatune setup and Genre selections
Magnatune describe themselves as "a pioneer in the fair trade music movement". Magnatune was one of the first commercial enterprises to use Creative Commons licensing.
To set up Magnatune in Guayadeque open the Preference window and choose Magnatune. Here you can choose what genres you want to have access to. Since Magnatune has a Member (pay) policy there is an option to put in your account information. There are two different accounts one can have so make sure you select Streaming or Downloading based on your account information. You can also choose whether you prefer to download ogg or mp3 files. Once you've done this Guayadeque will download the information and your Magnatune tab will get populated with all the available music.

There are several default options but more can be added. To add a command just right it down on the box provided for it and name it. Then click the + symbol. To rename an existing command click on it, change its name and click + again.
